The Creative Arts and Industries course offers students a wide variety of creative pathways selected from the specialisations in the suite of professional creative courses in the cultural industries being offered at Charles Darwin University in New Media Design, Fine Arts, Communications, and Music, together with selected specialist areas of study in the humanities and social sciences . The combined degree allows students to develop their creative potential by providing the opportunity to pursue related specialisations from the two degrees to equip graduates for stimulating careers in a wide range of choices.
The education course prepares graduates to be teachers in Primary, Middle or Secondary schooling.
Its aim is to produce teachers who work effectively within educational contexts that are dynamic and changing. The course meets both national and local needs for teachers of exemplary practice committed to enhancing educational outcomes for all children. It has particular emphasis on improving teaching-learning relationships in the classroom, raising awareness of issues surrounding Indigenous education and developing an informed, evidence based approach to learning and teaching in diverse education settings Education units are designed for external as well as internal students and the education course welcomes students from around Australia and overseas.
Graduates of this combined degree are awarded both the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning and the Bachelor of Creative Arts and Industries.
Criminal History Check: Students must have cleared a Police Check and/or Working with Children Check before they can undertake practice teaching. Students whose Police Check and/or Working with Children Check are not cleared by the education sectors will not be able to undertake practice teaching and will not be able to complete the requirements of the course.
This course is no longer available for admission. It is only open to existing students who have already been offered a place and completed one or more units of study.
