The Tertiary Enabling Program gives students the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they will need for successful achievement in tertiary studies. It is suitable for students who wish to study at a diploma or degree level but who have not achieved an adequate Tertiary Entrance Rank or lack the confidence to gain entry into higher education. Successful completion of the Orientation to Tertiary Study course, followed by the Preparation for Tertiary Study course, will allow students to meet the minimum entry requirements for most Charles Darwin University Bachelor degrees.

Students will be assessed before gaining entry and must be over 18 years of age at the commencement of the program. To apply go to www.cdu.edu.au/tep and complete the online enquiry form.

Additional Admission Requirements

Applicants will be required to undertake an online TEP Test (Maths and English) to determine if they will be required to enrol into TEP1 Orientation to Tertiary Study or if they can enter directly into TEP2 Preparation for Tertiary Study. Details for the assessment task will be forwarded upon completion of the online enquiry form. See the School of Academic Language and Learning for further information and contact details.

Students must complete all the units within TEP1 before they will be permitted to continue to TEP2.

Students who complete Orientation to Tertiary Study (TEP1) will be eligible to proceed to Preparation for Tertiary Study (TEP2).

Students who complete Preparation for Tertiary Study (TEP2) will be considered to have met the minimum admission requirements for Higher Education awards up to degree level.

Students who achieve a credit or above in the core units from Preparation for Tertiary Study (TEP2), are eligible to receive credit transfer for one of the academic literacies Common units CUC100 Academic Literacies / CUC106 Design and Innovation: Communicating Technology.

The Tertiary Enabling Program has two stages. All students that successfully complete the TEP Test (Maths and English) proceed to either TEP1 Orientation to Tertiary Study, or directly to TEP2 Preparation for Tertiary Study.

TEP1 "Orientation to Tertiary Study" is a four unit program which is one semester long if undertaken full time. Successful completion of this stage prepares students for the second stage, Preparation for Tertiary Study.

TEP2 "Preparation for Tertiary Study" is a four unit program which is one semester long if undertaken full time. It consists of three core units and one elective. Successful completion of this stage prepares students to undertake Tertiary Study at CDU.

CDU students currently enrolled in a HE award course who need to supplement their maths or other skills will be able to enrol directly into the relevant TEP units after confirming the most suitable support option with the TEP theme leader.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 40 credit points made up of four Core units as detailed below.
