Unit Description

This unit builds on the foundations laid in ACT102 Introduction to Accounting by enabling students to acquire and apply accounting and reporting techniques across a range of business activities - such as: accounting for assets, liabilities and equity, internal controls, preparation of cash flow statements, foreign transactions and translations, as well as develop an understanding of the conceptual framework and the Australian accounting standard setting process.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Demonstrate an understanding of the conceptual framework for financial reporting and the accounting standards settings process so that you are able to prepare and report financial information that conforms to accounting standards.
2.	Analyse and record accounting entries associated with the assets, liabilities and equity of a business.
3.	Demonstrate and communicate an understanding of financial statement analysis so that you are able to perform financial statement analysis and report the findings.
4.	Prepare cash flow statements using both the direct and indirect method.
5.	Demonstrate skills to account for foreign transactions and currency translations.
