Unit Description

This unit is designed for students with an introductory level of proficiency with the Chinese (Mandarin) language. It is structured to develop students' language studies and skills to an intermediate level. Students will increase their aptitudes in spoken language and grammar, improving conversational and compositional language skills, whilst continuing to engage with cultural and social issues related to their chosen language. Upon completion of the unit, students will utilise a spoken and written vocabulary of at least 400 Hanzi characters.

1.	Develop intermediate listening, speaking, reading, and writing competency in Chinese language.
2.	Apply language skills to critically evaluate the changing nature of languages and apply these changes to language competency and proficiency.
3.	Analyse and critique complex texts across cultural and linguistic translations between Chinese and English.
