Unit Description

This unit equips students with essential skills required by business professionals, as well as student undertaking academic study. It develops academic literacies such as critical thinking, conducting desktop research, reading and reviewing secondary sources, professional writing, appropriate referencing, and presenting ideas in a range of contexts and formats. The unit also imparts the key professional skills required to operate effectively in dynamic business environments, including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution, stakeholder management, resilience and overcoming challenges, as well as career planning.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply skills for life-long learning and performing effectively at university and in dynamic professional settings.
2.	Identify and discuss the challenges professionals face in the modern business environment.
3.	Analyse and discuss ideas and issues presented in oral, visual and written formats across a range of contexts.
4.	Explore and analyse fundamental concepts and issues relating to sustainability and sustainable development.
5.	Apply situation awareness skills to assertively deal with various types of people, in a variety of contexts.
6.	Work effectively as an individual or as part of a team.
