Are you fascinated by the power of stories? Do you want to tell your own stories as a writer, journalist, film maker, performer or director? Or to become a persuasive communicator in any profession?
In this unit you will take the time to consider how stories are shaped, different forms they take, different techniques to tell stories and how you can draw on these techniques to tell stories that reach an audience and make an impact.
You will be introduced to oral storytelling traditions as well as written, visual and audio-visual forms of stories. You will consider the use of linear and non-linear narratives, use of viewpoints, quest narratives and elements including plot and climax, setting, characters, dialogue and conflict. You will gain confidence in how to develop a story arc for any narrative form.
