This unit provides a framework to develop an independent or collaborative project in any creative arts discipline in response to an immersive on-country experience. These immersion programs challenge participants to engage with landscape through observation, listening and, as appropriate, students will be introduced to the Indigenous culture, language and creative practices of far north Australia.
Students will be expected to respond to and share their creative findings with peers through a guided series of workshops, reflections and critical discussions. Through these workshops, students are exposed to techniques, materials, methodologies and ways of making meaning of the world. On-country experiences will be offered as field trips. Following the on-country immersion, students are asked to complete a creative output which draws on the influence of the on-country experience and learning.
Due to field trip requirements, delivery of this unit will be based on minimum numbers required for the compulsory field trip component. In order for confirmation of delivery, students need to confirm enrolment 2-weeks prior to date of unit commencement.
The cost for the field trip is in addition to the unit fee. Once delivery is confirmed, students will be notified and supplied a separate pay portal.
