Do you want to exhibit your own artwork? Do you want to be immersed in the world of art collections, art galleries, libraries and museums, surrounded by artworks and artefacts?
This unit invites you to apply your developing knowledge of the arts to the management, programming and presentation of artworks and artefacts.
You will be guided through the historical and contemporary contexts of collections, archives and the presentation of visual art and artefacts. Explore case studies and gain first-hand experience through industry guests from galleries and museums. Develop techniques to conceptualise, plan, document, curate and present artworks and artefacts and to apply safe, sustainable and ethical practices.
You will consider curatorial practices for programming and presenting exhibitions, and experiment with how to combine practical and conceptual approaches to curate an exhibition, with impact for an audience while working within set resources and spaces.
Whether you're aiming to develop skills to manage and exhibit your own artwork or you're seeking a career in the galleries, libraries, art collections and museums (GLAM) sector, this unit promises to inspire and challenge you, encouraging the development of both technical mastery and curatorial vision.
