Unit Catalogue

This unit will develop preservice teachers' techniques for teaching English to students from a range of non-English-speaking backgrounds. Preservice teachers will be required to research a range of theories that inform approaches to teaching and apply these to learning activities. The unit will require preservice teachers to identify ways to promote cultural knowledge and interpersonal communication skills. As the relationship between identity, language and culture is a central theme in the unit, preservice teachers will also reflect on the ways in which their own language practices communicate social norms and cultural values.
