Unit Catalogue

This unit introduces students to a knowledge of Australian Indigenous languages and assist in shaping their developing pedagogical practices through the understanding of the role that language plays in learning. The unit offers students an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in meeting the needs of learners in an Indigenous language setting and to develop an understanding of Indigenous languages and their role in the classroom. Students will consider historical and current aspects of Australian Indigenous languages and explore issues surrounding the implementation of language instruction policy, bilingual enducation and both ways education.
