This unit enables students to explore current practice, including the recovery model, in mental health and undertake a critical analysis of contemporary mental health issues across the lifespan. Advanced knowledge about the context and consequences of mental illness for individuals, families and the broader community is provided. Students will explore current ethico-legal issues in mental health clinical practice. The unit provides a holistic approach to understanding and intervention in the mental health field, including the role of health promotion in the prevention of mental illness.
