Unit Description

This unit continues from HIT137 and HIT237. It introduces programming principles and practices associated with design and development across current major mobile platforms. This includes current mobile development frameworks and tools, including associated language extensions and constraints. Platforms may vary from year to year. This is a project based unit and prior knowledge of programming is crucial for the development of an application for mobile platforms.

This unit is reliant on on-line materials. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed broadband connection and have microphone and camera access for online teaching and learning

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Discuss the key issues associated with development on mobile platforms and how these differ from development on more traditional systems.
2.	Appraise various mobile platforms along with their individual strengths and inherent weaknesses, and their similarities and disparities.
3.	Design applications for various platforms making use of development libraries
4.	Demonstrate problem-solving techniques through creative thinking strategies
5.	Assess the most appropriate development strategy for conducting the development of a mobile application
6.	Document the development process using industry standard documentation processes
