This unit uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide students with strategies for prevention and long-term management of chronic conditions and associated risk factors. Chronic disease across Australian Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations and global perspectives are explored to ensure students understand why chronic disease is a health policy priority area. Health determinants, promotion, education, early intervention and behaviour change theories are introduced to improve individual, community and population health across the lifespan. Students will explore government and non-government strategies and resources in place to facilitate positive health partnerships.
