Unit Description

This unit provides the framework for the exploration, development and testing of architectural ideas and strategies that takes place within the design process. Students develop architectural design methodologies for medium scale multifunction buildings using architectural theory, concepts of space and place, materiality, structure, construction and environmental principles to inform the process. In a process of research, analysis, conceptual design and design resolution students learn to balance contextual, social, environmental, material and programmatic demands of an architectural project.
