This is a postgraduate unit and only available to students enrolled in postgraduate courses.
This unit introduces students to the main principles of corporate law relevant to managers in a corporate work place and its role in commerce and society. The areas that will be covered include the structure and rules governing corporations and company directors, limited liability and lifting the corporate veil, corporate authority and liability, corporate decision-making and the governance of companies, and the duties and liabilities of directors and officers. This unit is designed to provide students with a sophisticated understanding of the fundamental characteristics of companies and the legal principles that regulate the establishment, activities and dissolution of companies in Australia. This will provide students with an inner reflective attitude on the topics outlined for this unit.
