The purpose of this unit is to provide an overview of well women's health and health issues for women during the reproductive years. This unit is designed to promote health in the context of well women as well as provide experience with women undergoing gynaecological surgery. This unit may also provide experience in the areas of family planning and assistance with conception such as In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) techniques. Experience with women dealing with continence issues may also be another clinical practicum for this unit. Working with women dealing with female genital mutilation is also covered. The conditions of diabetes, cardiac disease, renal disease and hypertension are reiterated.
Students must also complete a Clinical Assessment Portfolio that provides a formative and summative assessment associated with an 80 hour clinical placement.
Online enrolment is not available and students must submit an application for special enrolment through CDU Portal. Prior to submitting a special enrolment, it is important students confirm they have met the required prerequisites of the unit.
