Unit Description

In this unit, students will enhance their professional practice through gaining an additional 300 hours of laboratory experience. They will reinforce their laboratory knowledge and skills, gaining experience in compliance, regulation, safety, and quality control and assurance, which are required for accurate and reliable testing services. Students will be required to understand the various laboratory functions, individual roles and responsibilities, and accurate interpretation and reporting of test results. Additionally, they will develop professional and ethical workplace behaviours, applying their problem-solving and decision-making skills in demonstrating their initiative and teamwork.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Competently perform a range of laboratory techniques
2.	Apply theoretical knowledge to data collection, testing and interpretation of results within a laboratory.
3.	Discuss and evaluate the organisational structure of the laboratory and the roles and accountabilities of employees and management.
4.	Demonstrate appropriate professional and ethical behaviours.
5.	Demonstrate effective communication and an ability to work as a team member and independently.
