This unit focuses on patient safety and person-centred nursing care for patients with conditions that affect the cardiac system. The unit provides the nurse working in the medical ward with an extension of cardiac anatomy and physiology and explores contemporary cardiac nursing practice of acute coronary syndrome and other high incidence cardiac focused diseases using current evidence. The unit utilises inquiry-based learning and case studies to create a foundation on which patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions are assessed and their individual needs prioritised and managed.
This unit is only available to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Medical Nursing (UMEDN1) and Master of Clinical Nursing (SCNU01)
