This unit focuses on patient safety and person-centred care for patients undergoing surgery. The unit examines the role of the registered nurse in anaesthetics and recovery and their contribution to creating a safe surgical environment. Student will build upon existing knowledge of anatomy and physiology as they examine the pathophysiological changes that occur across body systems. Drawing on contemporary evidence and research students will apply critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills to contextualise their practice.
This unit is only available to students enrolled in the UPERN1 Graduate Certificate of Perioperative Nursing and SCNU01 Master of Clinical Nursing.
