This unit will explore the major events and issues that have shaped current public health practice. It focuses on health inequalities, the social determinants and the political nature of public health, particularly in the Northern Territory and Australia. Students will learn how to describe and measure the health of populations and critically analyse public health interventions. It will provide an important avenue to future studies in public health.
