Do you know how to use Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) ethically and responsibly at university?

With GenAI being rapidly integrated into everyday life, education and professional settings, developing GenAI literacy is crucial. This unit will equip students with the knowledge and skills required for GenAI literacy through three key areas:

1. Learn to creatively harness Gen-AI tools in a variety of discipline areas and develop the ability to critically evaluate GenAI outputs, ensuring they are used appropriately and effectively.

2. Understand the privacy implications, potential risks and limitations of generative AI models, ensuring you can use these tools safely.

3. Explore the responsible use of GenAI at university, focusing on its impact on academic integrity and professional ethics.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Select and use generative artificial intelligence tools based on their strengths and weaknesses to enhance learning.
2.	Use identified frameworks to critically evaluate the relevance, bias and accuracy of generative AI outputs.
3.	Ethically and responsibly use generative AI tools in alignment with CDU values and policies for learning and assessment.
4.	Apply generative AI in the context of disciplinary areas in consideration of professional ethics and competencies.
5.	Use generative AI to produce multimodal outputs, such as text, images, audio and video, to enhance the learning process.
