| This unit will introduce students to theory and research related to major themes of social, psychology and explore how psychology provides a comprehensive understanding of social and cultural phenomena.
Topics covered in this unit include; social knowledge, attitudes and beliefs, prejudice, and discrimination, conflict, social influence and persuasion, decision-making, pro-social and antisocial behaviour and intergroup relations and social identity and identities. The unit will highlight research in these and other areas in acknowledgement of the diversity of human social and cultural behaviour. The unit has been designed to focus on the applications of social psychology including the impact of culture on social behaviour.
