| Fundamental to understanding human behaviour is the ability to understandthe biological bases of behaviour. This unit introduces students to behavioural neuroscience and the brain mechanisms underlying behaviour.
Topics will include; genetics, evolution to explain manifest behaviour, evolution and development of the nervous system, the biological mechanisms of perception, movement, sleep, hunger, thirst, reproduction and emotion, structure and function of the cerebral cortex; sensory systems;motor control; hormonal control, and higher order functions such as memory.
