Unit Description

This unit allows students to undertake a clinical placement and develop and demonstrate competency in the skills and attributes of physiotherapy professionals. During the placement students will participate in a range of learning opportunities with clients who present with a range of different conditions from the core areas of physiotherapy, across the person's lifespan and in a range of environments and settings. Experience with clients may occur individually or in group-based sessions.

Clinical education is a five week full-time placement (approximately 37.5 hours per week). Students can expect to undertake at least one clinical placement in a rural or regional setting, delivered at a clinical facilities or remotely/online (eg telehealth services).

Before students commence placement they will need to meet all the requirements. Please refer to the Faculty of Health website for further details regarding placements requirements and other important information.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply foundational clinical competency in physiotherapy practice, as assessed against the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice guidelines.
2.	Assess clients abilities, impairments and needs, and determine the role and impact of economic factors, cultural and social determinants and mental health and well-being on client centred care.
3.	Develop and implement physiotherapy management plan to meet defined client centred goals and critically evaluate effectiveness of implemented management plans based on clients' needs.
4.	Advocate for effective client management, collaborating within an inter-professional practice framework, and utilising available resources.
5.	Demonstrate conduct of a professional manner, incorporating risk management and conflict resolution strategies.
