This unit will allow students to explore the basic concepts of immunology that underpin the human immune system's development, function, and role in health and disease. Students will study the structure, function and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses, antigens and antigen presentation, antibodies and soluble mediators' function in disease protection. Additionally, students will explore the principles of vaccination and discuss essential immunological tests that are employed in diagnostic and research laboratories.
