Unit Catalogue

Students will attend a 120 hour clinical placement covering paediatric and adult caseloads to introduce them to the profession of speech pathology, clinical practice and working with clients. This unit will also cover curriculum content to support students' intermediate clinical skills in the following areas: Administration of early childhood speech and language screening tools and assessments; analysis and interpretation of typically and atypically developing speech and language; progress note and report templates; goal-setting and; the multidisciplinary team in speech pathology practice. On completion of this unit, students are expected to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours which constitute an Intermediate level of competency, as described in the Competency Assessment in Speech Pathology (COMPASS®). Students will be expected to pay for their placement related expenses such as transport and accommodation.
