Students will be required to complete 80 hours of supervised placement. Students must complete at least 40 hours of exercise prescription and delivery. Exercise prescription hours must be with clients who are seen for the purpose of undertaking an exercise intervention to improve their health and fitness, well-being or performance, and not participating in an exercise intervention for the treatment and/or management of a clinical condition or injury. Students may also engage in the delivery of exercise program for clients with a clinical pathology (program MUST be prescribed by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist or appropriate professional).
Students may also complete placement hours that reflect tasks listed by Exercise Sports Science Australia as meeting the 'other' category of hours.
Students may be required to utilise more than one placement host to achieve their required hours. Passive observation can be undertaken to improve student learning, but these cannot be logged as part of the logged practicum hours.
Students must complete the required logbook. Practicum hosts will be required to complete an assessment of student competencies.
