This unit requires students to apply and develop analytical, critical and problem-solving skills to social policy in the Australian context. The historical development of the welfare state in Australia is examined and influencing factors such as discriminatory policies, legislation and practices are critiqued. Contemporary social policy will be evaluated and an equitable framework will be developed for future social work practice.
