Unit Description

This unit examines advanced practice models and theories currently used in a range of social work fields of practice. Students are assisted in integrating social work knowledge, practice theories, values and modes of practice in developing a personal practice approach. Critical reflection is utilized as a basis for ongoing professional learning. This unit is provided predominantly online however all students must complete 5 days of face to face intensive at CDU Casuarina campus to meet AASW accreditation requirements.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Synthesise and apply core theoretical and practice frameworks to social work practice.
2.	Assess and determine suitable practice approaches that will assist individuals, families, groups and communities to achieve the required outcome.
3.	Apply a range of skills and techniques appropriate to social work practice with diverse client groups.
4.	Implement reflective learning techniques and skills that assist ongoing professional development.
