Unit Description

This unit is the second work integrated learning (WIL) placement unit and will build on the clinical knowledge and skills developed throughout the program. This unit will allow students to further their

understanding of professional paramedicine practice outside of a traditional emergency response setting. Student's will complete up to 160hrs of experience across a diverse range of environments including but not limited to primary care, hospital-based settings, and clinical simulated learning experiences. Each of these activities map to the Paramedic Board of Australia's competencies and professional capabilities of registered Paramedics.

Important Information

This unit is only available to students enrolled in the WPAR01 Bachelor of Paramedicine.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply a holistic approach and evidence-based decision-making skills at non-complex scenes working collaboratively with others in the team.
2.	Apply a trauma informed approach, understanding of one¿s own bias, and emotional intelligence, when managing patients in a health setting.
3.	Apply professional and culturally appropriate communication skills whilst providing care and assessment to patients in a variety of contexts and situations.
4.	Reflect on the Paramedic Board of Australia paramedic capabilities in relation to the patient care journey when applying person-centred care.
5.	Apply clinically safe competent professional paramedic practice in practicum.
