The aim of this unit is to prepare the student for the transition to become a registered Paramedic and builds on all previous knowledge from the studies in the Paramedicine degree. This unit provides the final placement in a work integrated learning (WIL) setting, under the supervision of registered Paramedics. The unit will enable students to amalgamate their knowledge and clinical skills and confidently lead a range of complex scenarios. The expectation of this placement will be for the student to take a forward-facing leadership role in the clinical setting, and apply evidence-based decision-making, which combines the theoretical and practical skills learned throughout the program. Students will be required to map the Paramedic Board of Australia (PBA) Professional Capabilities of Registered Paramedics, directly to their practice, to demonstrate professional competency. Students will be required to complete 12 shifts or approximately 144 hrs of WIL.
This unit is only available to students enrolled in the WPAR01 Bachelor of Paramedicine.
