Unit Description

The subject is the second programming unit of study and continues on from HIT137. It covers advanced programming concepts and technologies associated with platform-independent, object-oriented programming, including Graphical User Interfaces, Networking and advanced data structures. Students will combine practical experience with associated theoretical concepts and industry practice to create applications.

This unit is reliant upon on-line materials. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed broadband connection.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Design solutions incorporating data encapsulation techniques
2.	Decompose and implement object oriented solutions, working both individually and in groups
3.	Create applications which conform to object-oriented methodology
4.	Implement alternate programming solutions to real problems
5.	Demonstrate problem-solving techniques through creative thinking strategies
6.	Document the development process using industry standard documentation processes
