This unit is part of the coursework units for the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), and as such will introduce students to the skills of clinical interviewing based upon empirically validated models of clinical intervention. Principles of therapeutic intervention are covered, with attention paid to techniques for establishing and maintaining collaborative therapeutic relationships in a cultural context, issues concerning therapeutic process and content, and other factors routinely encountered in clinical practice. A theoretical grounding in the knowledge and application of a range of therapy types for common psychological disorders across the lifespan is provided.
