Students Commencing in Semester 1
The Recommended Study Plans provided below are suitable for students commencing in semester 1, enrolling in a standard full time load and meet the assumed knowledge - Stage 2 Mathematical Studies. Students who do not meet or are uncertain whether they meet the assumed knowledge should contact the course coordinator at engineering@cdu.edu.au or 08 8946 6457 to discuss their study plan.
Students entering this course with advanced standing, wanting to study part time or vary their study plan due to work, personal, financial or other reasons should use the table as a guide to create an individual study plan.
When designing an individual study plan:
- ensure Common Units are completed in the first year of study;
- maintain the basic order in which units are to be attempted; and
- check the assumed knowledge for each unit as some 200, 300 and 400 level units assume you have completed foundation unit/s in the subject area at a lower level. 200 level units have the unit code which includes a number starting with 200 i.e. PMO201.
The first year of study in Engineering is common to all specialisations with students selecting a specialisation in the second year of study (Year 2).

RECOMMENDED ENGINEERING ELECTIVES available via CROSS INSTITUTIONAL ENROLMENT
External units offered by other Australian Universities are available to CDU students in external form. Students will need to complete a Cross Institutional Enrolment, for which application should be made directly to the University offering the units. Units from Central Queensland University (CQU), Deakin University (Deakin), University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and University of Wollongong (UoW) are listed below as approved external electives for CDU's Bachelor of Engineering program.
External units offered by Robert Gordon University (RGU) are available to CDU students via online. These units are not covered through HECS and students are fully responsible for paying the fees. There are no on-campus sessions, and there are no specific pre-requisites; however, it is suggested that students take these electives in their final year. Students will need a Cross Institutional Enrolment to undertake these units, for which application should be made through the CDU course coordinator. Units from RGU are listed below as approved external electives for CDU's Bachelor of Engineering program.
Note: these units are not offered by CDU and therefore CDU staff may be unable to provide assistance.
