General Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauty therapists to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skincare and cosmetic products.

These individuals work relatively autonomously and are accountable for personal outputs. Their work involves the self-directed application of knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas where judgement is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques.

Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Accreditation
This is a current, nationally accredited qualification from the SHB Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package.

Locations and Study Mode
Delivery at all locations is subject to sufficient demand and resources.

Entry Requirements Domestic

To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

To gain entry into SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy, it is preferred that the candidate has completed:

Year 12 or equivalent education and have completed SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services
Successful completion of a pre-enrolment Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and interview is essential for success in this program.

English Language Requirements

All VET International applicants are required to meet the English language proficiency for their chosen course of study.

The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.

IELTS Academic Module (including One Skill Retake)	A minimum overall score of 5.5 with no band less than 5.0.
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)	A minimum overall score of 165.
Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module	A minimum overall score of 42 with no less than 36 in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT)	A minimum overall score of 46 with a minimum writing score of 21.

* All tests are valid for two years from the date of the test to the date of commencement at CDU, unless otherwise specified.
* Where applicable, international applicants must also satisfy the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) English language requirements for student visa applications.
