Unit Description

In the dynamic global business environment, megatrend analysis is critical for organisations to drive sustainable growth and to remain relevant as competition evolves and innovations disrupt entire industries. This postgraduate unit focuses on the events and trends that are currently affecting, or have the potential to affect, business and society on a global scale. These include significant shifts in economic, environmental, sociocultural and technological forces, which represent both management opportunities and challenges. The unit provides students with key models and techniques to identify major issues and megatrends in global business. Informed by the need for sustainable business practices, students will critically examine these trends and develop responsive plans.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Identify major trends in global business.
2.	Apply advanced business skills to analyse the impacts that changes to the business environments and key trends might have on the organisation.
3.	Engage with uncertainty by developing alternative scenarios based on contemporary market and business trends
4.	Develop responsive plans to leverage opportunities and address challenges associated with emerging events and trends
5.	Identify how new technologies might impact the organisation and develop appropriate organisational responses.
