Unit Description

This unit provides the structure for music students to combine theory and practice in increasingly challenging ways at an introductory level. An emphasis on demonstrating increased understanding of the foundations of music and skills in musical technique focusing on stylistic and interpretive characteristics of repertoire. Students will learn instrumental and vocal techniques with reference to anatomy, physiology and efficient body use in order to enable students to practice and perform music of increasing complexity in a safe and sustainable manner.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Analyse and interpret music theory with increasing complexity.
2.	Transpose tunes of increasing difficulty to different keys.
3.	Research, analyse and perform new repertoire.
4.	Apply and maintain correct body use in singing and playing techniques.
5.	Apply knowledge to analysing and solving increasingly complex technical issues.
