Unit Description

This unit will build on students' knowledge of clinical skills in Paramedicine, allowing them to strengthen experience developing and applying skills in a 'real-life' setting under the supervision of practicing Paramedics. This will be the second placement a work integrated learning setting. Whilst supervised you will be exposed to patients in a pre-hospital environment, which is critical in developing skills.

Students will be required to complete 240 hours of placement through St John Ambulance within the Northern Territory.

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Apply a holistic approach and evidence-based decision-making skills at non-complex scenes working collaboratively with others in the team.
2.	Apply empathy and compassion when managing patients in a pre-hospital setting.
3.	Apply professional and interpersonal communication skills whilst providing care to patients in a variety of contexts and situations.
4.	Reflect on your developing capabilities as well as appropriate communication methods in various scenarios, problem solving and clinical reasoning.
6.	Apply clinically safe competent professional paramedic practice in practicum.
