Clinical chemistry will cover all of the clinical aspects of biochemistry analysis; core and specialised tests commonly performed in a diagnostic laboratory. Students will learn to interpret laboratory tests relating to lipids, carbohydrate metabolism, liver and kidney function, endocrine analysis and drug monitoring, with an emphasis on both the physiological and biochemical aspects of these tests, to determine and manage various health and disease states. Students will learn the importance of reference ranges, maintaining laboratory safety and quality control and their role in a diagnostic laboratory.
