In this unit students will learn about fundamental concepts of word structure (morphology) and sentence structure (syntax). They will acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to describe a wide variety of word and sentence structures found across the world's languages.
Students will develop skills in morphological and syntactic analysis, learning to apply appropriate concepts, terminology and notation to identify grammatical patterns in linguistic data from a variety of different languages. This unit will focus, in particular, on word and sentence structures found across different Australian Indigenous languages.
