This unit consists of a minimum of 300 hours of professional practice experience related to the engineering specialisation of study, i.e. Civil and Structural, Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
Students are expected to be exposed to engineering workplaces and conduct engineering activities under the supervision of experienced engineers.
The professional practice experience would normally be completed by a 8-week work placement either on-site or in an engineering office. However, approved alternative professional practice activities or a combination of work placement and approved alternative professional practice activities are also acceptable. For further details, refer to the online site of the unit.
Full-time students usually complete professional practice experience during semester breaks.
All students can claim work experience done within the last two years prior to the submission of their work experience report.
Students who have not passed the unit should enrol in the new unit and submit their assessment items through the online site of the new unit.
This unit does not contribute any credit points toward the completion of the degree, but it is a course requirement that it is completed satisfactorily.
