Unit Description

This unit aims to analyse the global social, environmental and political elements of the public health of populations. The major thematic areas are:

Globalisation and Health;
International Development and Human Rights;
Environment and Social Change and Health;

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Recognise and examine the link between globalisation and health.
2.	Identify and apply various measures of health and disease and assess their validity.
3.	Explain why health inequity as an essential element to address health service planning and delivery
4.	Examine and explain the influences of global political, financial and social forces on the global environment and health.
5.	Identify the key factors in global health and outline how they can cooperate to address critical global health issues.
6.	Consider future challenges associated with the unfinished agenda in global health and plan strategies to address them.
7.	Demonstrate advanced public health skills such as strategic thinking, clear communication and cooperation.
