In this unit, students will develop theoretical knowledge of the motor speech disorders that occur in children and adults. They will integrate their knowledge of motor speech, swallowing and voice disorders, demonstrating an understanding of how these are interrelated. Students will develop competencies in assessment, analysis and interpretation of client data, as well as the planning and implementation of evidence-based, client-centred speech pathology practice for children and adults with motor speech disorders. They will learn to describe, evaluate and conduct interventions for these populations. A compulsory 5-day residential school is attached to this unit.
