This course is designed to develop professional knowledge and skills and prepare for new and changing educational roles as teachers and educators to teach in both early childhood and primary school settings. Graduates develop a range of skills and techniques required to foster positive development and learning in children at early years.

The course includes theory and practice with students having supervised professional experience in schools/learning sites from the first semester in the first year. There are three professional experience blocks that require full-time commitment in each year of the course. The course can be completed by fully external study (online) or in a blend of online and internal formats. There is a high level of online study and interaction for all students.

All students must pass prior to graduation the ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) as required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). The cost of the testing will be met by the student. Refer to https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/

Early Childhood and Primary Teaching

This course covers the following primary specialisations in the Early Childhood & Primary Teaching stream: Literacy/English, Numeracy/Mathematics, Science.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

This course has a requirement of 65 to 80 days of Professional Experience.
Professional Experience units MUST be undertaken in the following sequence: EPE110 or EPE111, EPE210 or EPE211, EPE310 or EPE314.
