Course Structure

The information provided for this course was valid for the final year of enrolment. Students continuing in this course may find there have been some changes to the unit availability. Students should, in the first instance, refer to the recommended study plan in the newest version of this course to make their unit selection for the current year.

Every re-enrolling student will be able to complete their current course of study. As a continuing student you should always consider transferring to the newest course version to enable you to take advantage of new and exciting changes to university programs. Students electing not to transfer should refer to the transitional arrangements where provided.

You will enjoy the flexibility of fitting studying around your family and work commitments, and will need to be disciplined and committed in making time for study.
Pre-Clinical Requirements
You must provide proof that you have met all university and State/Territory pre-clinical requirements before starting clinical placements. These requirements include, but are not limited to:

immunisation requirements
Senior First Aid qualification
annual criminal record checks
working with children clearances
fitness-to-practice requirements.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 240 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless indicated.

Course Rules (unless otherwise indicated in the above course structure) (240cp)

A maximum of 100 credit points may be taken from 100 level units.
A minimum of 60 credit points must be taken from 300 level units or above.
See the Higher Education Course Rules (Award Requirements) in the Units and Courses Policy.

If course commenced prior to 2023:
No more than 20 credit points shall be counted with a grade of "PC" in a Bachelor AQF Level 7 course award and no more than 10 credit points at "PC" may be received at the highest level of the program of learning.

COURSE CHANGES AND TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS - 2023 and 2024

Transfer to New Course WMIDW2:

Students who have NOT completed the common units and the Specialist Elective, it is strongly recommended you transfer to the new course WMIDW2.
Students who have completed only one of the common units, CUC107 or CUC100 it is recommend you transfer to WMIDW2. Although credit may be lost you will be completing the degree within the most current program.
Students who have completed one common unit and HSC220, follow the below instructions to complete WMIDW1.
Students who have completed BOTH of the common units, CUC107 and CUC100, follow the below instructions to complete WMIDW1.

Completion of WMIDW1

MID101 has been replaced by MID111. Students that have completed MID101 should not complete MID111.
MID102 has been replaced by MID121. Students that have completed MID102 should not complete MID121.
SWK102 has been replaced by NUR132. Students that have completed SWK102 should not complete NUR132.
HSC203 (new unit code HSC133 in 2024) has been replaced by MID213. Students that have completed HSC203 should not complete MID213. Students that have not completed HSC203 should not complete HSC133 and should complete MID213.
MID201 has been replaced by MID210. Students that have completed MID201should not complete MID210.
MID202 has been replaced by MID211. Students that have completed MID202 should not complete MID211.
MID203 has been replaced by MID223. Students that have completed MID203 should not complete MID223.
MID204 has been replaced by MID221. Students that have completed MID204 should not complete MID221.
MID205 has been replaced by NUR256. Students that have completed MID205 should not complete NUR256.
MID304 has been replaced by MID312. Students that have completed MID304 should not complete MID312.
Specialist elective unit PSY219 has been replaced by MID320 in 2024. Students who have completed PSY219 should not complete MID320.

From 2023 the following units have been removed from the course:

> HSC220 Society, Culture and Health: A Sociological Introduction
> PSY203 Developmental Psychology Across the Lifespan

Students that have not completed either HSC220 or PSY202 and the Specialist Elective should complete MID110 and MID120.
Students that have not completed both HSC220 and PSY202 and the Specialist Elective should complete MID110 and MID120 and MID320.

Students who have not completed SWK102 and the specialist elective:

> RN's must complete MID112 Midwifery Practice for RNs.
> All other students must complete NUR132 Communication for Person-Centred Practice by end of their course and complete and specialist elective from WMIDW1 specialist elective offering by the end of 2025.

Students who have completed SWK102 and have not completed a specialist elective must complete a specialist elective from WMIDW1 specialist elective offering by end of 2025.

COURSE CHANGES AND TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS - 2022

PSY202 has been replaced by PSY203. Students that have completed PSY202 prior to 2022 should not complete PSY203.
PSY209 has been replaced by PSY219. Students that have completed PSY209 prior to 2022 should not complete PSY219.

Course Changes 2021

HSC230 Cultural Safety in Health has been replaced by HSC220 Society, Culture and Health: A Sociological Introduction. Students who have already completed HSC230 do not need to complete HSC220.
HSC210 Health Sociology has been replaced by NUR135 Primary Health Care. Students who have already completed HSC210 do not need to complete the replacement unit NUR135.
