Course Catalogue

This course is suitable for people who would like to learn how to safely use and maintain a chainsaw. It covers the following:

• Operational maintenance of chainsaws
• Chain selection and sharpening
• Select and use required PPE
• Cutting techniques for felled timber

To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

You must:

• be 16 years or older and physically capable of using a chainsaw; and
• not be attending secondary school; and
• be able to demonstrate appropriate language, literacy, and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake this course. This is demonstrated if you have completed a qualification deemed equivalent to an Australian Year 11 or higher, Australian Certificate III or higher, or by completing a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
• To complete the FWPCOT2275 Fell Tress Manually (basic) unit the AHCMOM213 Operate and maintain chainsaws and the FWPCOT2273 Trim and cut felled tress units must be completed first.
