This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as aquaculture attendants to support the care of aquatic stock in the aquaculture sector of the seafood industry. In this role, these individuals undertake a range of routine tasks such as handling, feeding and monitoring stock, and monitoring environmental conditions under the direction of a supervisor.

The environments in which these individuals work include:

aquaculture farms
aquarium wholesalers and retailers
hatcheries and nurseries
live post-harvest holding facilities.

All work is carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety, food safety, biosecurity and environmental regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at this time of publication.

Accreditation
This is a current, nationally accredited qualification from the SFI Seafood Industry Training Package.

Locations and Study Mode
Delivery is subject to sufficient demand and resources.

Locations: Casuarina, Remote

Entry Requirements Domestic

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification required by the training package, however CDU requires students to be fit, active and able to function effectively in a tropical environment, as this is a physically demanding course, and students must have a work contract with an approved employer to undertake a traineeship.

Required Resources
Students are issued with learning materials and handouts relevant to each unit during face-to-face training.

Students are required to provide some of their own protective clothing for working outdoors; ie. hat, closed in shoes, sunglasses, long trousers and a long sleeve shirt.

Estimated completion time: 0.5 year/s

This program is delivered over a period of 6 months. The length of time to complete this qualification will depend on the location, study mode and/or units selected and will vary depending upon how long a student takes to reach the required competency level.

Student Visa holders must study internally full time
