This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauticians to provide a range of beauty services including nail, waxing, lash and brow, and basic make-up services.

These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement are required and are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on beauty products and services.

Work is typically conducted in beauty, waxing, brow, and nail salons.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. 

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

To gain entry into SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services, candidates require:

• A completed Year 11 or equivalent education, Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy assessment and interview. 
• Successful completion of a pre-enrolment Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) assessment and interview is essential for success in this program.

Students undertaking this qualification as a Trainee must have a training contract with their employer and Apprenticeships Northern Territory.

Required Resources
Students will have 24/7 access to assessments and learning resources on CDU's online learning platform Learnline. Before using Learnline however, students will need to ensure that their computer has the correct setup.

Computer and internet access will be required to participate in online sessions, source information and complete assessments.

Students are required to purchase Skin Deep Learning resources from the CDU Beauty Salon for the units mentioned below in program content - the cost of each manual is approximately $28.00. Total cost is $461.20. These will be available to purchase during your orientation session on course commencement.

Uniforms

Students are required to purchase a Span Tunic Style No: H630L in Black, for approximately $60.00, available from Hip Pocket, 10 Fogarty Street, Alice Springs, NT, phone number: 0402 531 105. This must be worn with either black trousers or a knee length skirt with black closed-in shoes.

Palmerston
Students are required to purchase a CDU t-shirt - YOU MAKE CDU WOMENS POLO from the CDU Bookshop at the Casuarina Campus, $35. This must be worn with either black trousers or knee length skirt with closed shoes.

Purchase a Make-up brush set. Information on the kit will be provided upon enrolment.

Palmerston
Students are required to purchase a lash lift kit and an eyelash extension kit

• The lash lift kit can be purchased from Elleebana and costs approximately $202.56
• The eyelash extension kit can be purchased from Graft a Lash and costs approximately $215.00
• It is recommended that you also purchase a make-up brush set
