This Aquaponics short course provides students with an exciting way to grow food all year round.

Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture and horticulture systems and is a practical example of water efficiency and environmentally sustainable practices, where we can turn "waste" from an aquaculture system, into a -resource- in the form of fruit and vegetables. If done correctly, aquaponics should be cost-effective and require minimum maintenance.

This course will teach you how to monitor and maintain an aquaponics system and manage the water qualities so that your fish remain healthy, whilst you maximize the growth potential of your vegetables.

Accreditation
This is a non-award course and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.

Entry Requirements Domestic

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

You are required to wear enclosed shoes during the course, and appropriate clothing such as a hat, long pants, sleeved shirt with collar and a water bottle.

Required Resources

Students are issued with fact sheets summarising key concepts and designs to use as a reference when maintaining their own system. Learner Guides and documents provide course materials, readings, and assessment tasks through the Internet or will be handed out to students during class.

This program is delivered over a period of 2 days. The length of time to complete this qualification will depend on the location, study mode and/or units selected and will vary depending upon how long a student takes to reach the required competency level.
