This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to test, commission and maintain backflow prevention devices in water services.

In some jurisdictions, these units of competency may form part of accreditation, licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.

VTP408 Backflow Prevention Devices - 2026

Accreditation
This is a non-award course and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.

Locations and Study Mode
Delivery at all locations is subject to sufficient demand and resources.

Entry Requirements Domestic

A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

To gain entry into VTP408 Backflow Prevention Devices, candidates require:

CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing or industry equivalent
NT White Card
Must have completed the pre-requisite units for CPCPWT4022
- CPCPCM2043 Carry out WHS requirements
- CPCPWT3027 Install backflow prevention devices (most hold pre-requisite units: CPCPCM2043 Carry out WHS requirements, and CPCPCM3023 Fabricate and install non-ferrous pressure piping)

Sufficient level of literacy and numeracy

Students are required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment)

This program is delivered over a period of 3 days. The length of time to complete this qualification will depend on the location, study mode and/or units selected and will vary depending upon how long a student takes to reach the required competency level.

Student Visa holders must study internally full time
